From an old pamphlet c.1920

An accident on 24 Jan 1931 between Hatfield'slorry and Palin's milk float. Hunter's Tea Stores in West End, Wirksworth.

Market Place, Wirksworth

On the left is Hunter's Tea Stores, to the right of which is Marsden's hardware store. Behind the gas lamp is Johnson's the ironmongers, who have put goods for sale out on the pavement. On the right is Crompton and Evans' Union bank (later the Westminster Bank), and on the left of Johnson's is The Greyhound Inn, which closed in 1913 but in the photo is a shop, which has a primitive motorbike parked on the curb outside. The bell tower of the Town Hall stands above all the other roofs.
